Kahnversations Podcast 2.0

Eva de Dominici is most recently known for her role as Nadia on the series the Cleaning Lady. We connect with the lovely and down to earth Argentine actor as she recounts her first auditions in the US, overcoming her discomfort of presenting herself and introductions in “the room” for auditions (pre-COVID), her struggles while building her English vocabulary, and the realization that her fumbles made her so much more competent for the next audition.

Eva gets vulnerable and shares her trials as a young mother trying to make it as an actor with a newborn, and how vulnerability itself is the key to being flexible during auditions. And FINALLY she gets to dishing about her juicy role of Nadia on the Cleaning Lady. She shares her preparations, her aspirations, and the sometimes-misaligned realities of network TV.

We get a chance to catch up with California native, Natalee Linez shares her experiences of support at the Kahnstitute, and Patrice corroborates the need for having a self-tape committee. She dishes about coaching with Lesly (and her fab staff of coaches), daring to suck, and bringing your “special sauce” to the room. Natalee is a generous spirit and during her work on the series Siren developed her M.A.G.I.C. Mornings method. She shares her experience researching and developing this method based on high performers. Eventually, we get into the Power III: Raising Kanan audition/role.

Fun moment: Patrice asks, “What does your special sauce take like?” Natalee gives a great answer. But we wanna know what does YOUR special sauce taste like?

Natalee Linez is known for her role on the series Siren, and most recently for her work on Power III: Raising Kanan.

In this episode we talk with Lauren Buglioli, Los Angeles born actor who dishes about her role in Florida Man and the torture of going through a long process to get that juicy role, and the axiom "what is meant for you, is meant for you," no matter how impossible it may seem, and how gratitude got her through. Working with legends and being gracious no matter how successful you are was a big takeaway, and many more gems.

George asks, “If your headshot has a caption, what would it say?” You will want to hear the answer...

Lauren has most recently been noted for her roles in FLORIDA MAN (2022), BAD MONKEY and A JAZZMAN’S BLUES (2022). Social Media @lauren_buglioli

We took a pandemic pause but now weeeeee’rrrrrre baaaaaaaaaack! With new hosts, new guests, and a new feel, we are thrilled to bring you Kahnversations 2.0.

REEEEMIIIIIXXXXX!

In our first episode back, we talk with Emmett Skilton, a New Zealand-born actor, director, and screenwriter, and beloved Kahnstitute actor. He shares the wild ride of filming and directing during a pandemic, how they filmed intimate scenes during the no contact phase of lockdown, and other tales of New Zealand filming fun. He also absolutely slays his Lesly impersonation.

Emmett Skilton has worked in over 50 productions in film, television and theatre. He is best-known for his role as Axl Johnson in the television series THE ALMIGHTY JOHNSONS. Emmett has acted in various large-scale film and television productions, with roles in James Cameron’s AVATAR 2, feature film TOGETHER FOREVER TEA, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s new comedy series YOUNG ROCK. Behind the scenes, Emmett has developed his passion for writing and direction, co-creating award-winning series’ AUCKWARD LOVE and Instagram comedy MILLENIAL JENNY alongside his fiancée Holly Shervey, and directing over 70 episodes of New Zealand’s premiere show, SHORTLAND STREET.

We've all heard the stories from block buster actors. In Kahnversations, you’ll hear interviews with some of Lesly Kahn & Company’s working actors, directors, and writers. Folks who have just broken through, not yet to wild star status, but they aren't bartending either (probably). The goal: de-mystifying career trajectories and talking through those moments where everything shifted.

We’ll learn how they got their start in Hollywood, the challenges and hurdles they faced, and how they overcame the odds, not to mention dish some juicy stories! There are so many inspiring podcasts with fabulous stars out there. But their careers feel light years away from ours, don’t they? Wouldn’t it be great to hear from the guy who just booked his first pilot? Or the kid finally doing a studio pic after a bunch of low budget indies? Or the woman who’s been a series regular a few times but is only now becoming a name? What about the guy who’s been on a show for years and you know his face but what’shisnameagain? Or that actress who is now a freakin’ showrunner???? How’d THEY do it, right? How did they transition from relative obscurity, bartending and bottle service, to buying that house in Brentwood? We’re producing “Kahnversations,” a podcast that provides access to THOSE people -- your immediate predecessors -- so that you can learn from them while their battle scars are still fresh.

In “Kahnversations,” our own Ryan Bailey interviews some of Lesly Kahn & Company’s working actors, directors, and writers in order to learn how they got started in Hollywood, the challenges and hurdles they faced, and how they overcame the odds. (They also dish out some crazy stories!) Listen in and enjoy as these entertainers speak candidly about their paths, processes, and experiences. You might even hear a bit about how Lesly and the Kahnstitute have influenced and shaped their careers.

New "Kahnversations" Podcast with
Actor
Tristen J. Winger!

Tristen J. Winger made his television acting debut in Issa Rae's HBO Original Series, "Insecure." Winger portrays the character of "Thug Yoda," an intimidating, yet comedic and loving father who also happens to be a local gang member. As Issa's neighbor in the series, Winger's character provides both "Yoda-like" wisdom as well as the occasional comedic relief throughout the show.

Born and raised in South Los Angeles, Winger became immersed in the arts at an early age. In 2000, he was enrolled in The Colburn School of Performing Arts and later joined the Amazing Grace Conservatory where he was inspired to develop his skills in acting, voice, and dance. Years later, Tristen landed a role on the critically acclaimed web series, "The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl" as the unknowingly soft-spoken character, baby-voiced "Darius".

He enjoys spending his off screen time writing, traveling, producing music, and impersonating characters and people from everyday life. Winger recognizes and credits his passion and growing success to his mother, a retired touring ballroom dancer who consistently sought out activities to foster his creative development.
